LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team earned four first-place finishes as it competed in a pair of weekend events heading into the final month of the season.

Lindsey Harmon earned a first-place finish in the women's high jump as the Ragin' Cajuns competed at the Southeastern Lion Invitational on Friday before Matt Rice, Devin Davis and Albert Fournette each recorded first-place performances on Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold meet.

The events were part of a busy week for the Ragin' Cajuns, who competed in four events in an eight-day period leading up to next month's Sun Belt Conference Championships, scheduled for May 9-11 in San Marcos, Texas. The Ragin' Cajuns will make their final tune-up prior to the Sun Belt Championships on Saturday when it travels to Natchitoches to compete in the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.

SOUTHEASTERN LIONS INVITATIONAL
Harmon's mark in the high jump of 5 feet, 8.75 inches was one of four top-5 finishes as the Ragin' Cajuns brought a small contingent of student-athletes to the third-annual meet at the Southeastern Track and Field Complex.

Madalyn Trisler earned a fourth-place finish in the high jump (5-5) with Genevieve Roy finishing fifth overall in the women's 1,500-meter run (5:09.25).  Freshman Emily Gale finished sixth overall in the women's pole vault (12-0) with Abi Brown (400-meter hurdles; 1:08.44) and Kaylei Esfeller (1,500-meters, 5:13.38) each earning seventh-place finishes.

On the men's side, Wes Gonzales earned a fifth-place finish in the long jump (22-10) with Christian Umphries finishing 10th (21-4).

LSU ALUMNI GOLD
The first-place performances by Rice (1,500 meters), Davis (long jump) and Fournette (shot put) highlighted a solid day by the Ragin' Cajuns, who also received second-place efforts by Stacy Imagbe (100-meters "B"), Ashley Irwin (5,000 meters) and Ta'Shania Bean (long jump) along with third-place finishes by Bean (triple jump) and Michael Vani (pole vault).

Rice, a Baton Rouge native, claimed his third overall title in the 1,500 this season after he clocked a personal-best time of 3:54.41 to edge the Texas A&M tandem of Micah Dettmer (3:54.86) and Aaron Murray (3:55.18).

Davis posted a mark of 24-9 in the long jump to claim first-place honors for the second time this season and eclipse his previous best (24-8.25) set at the McNeese Cowboy Relays on March 15.  Fournette maintained his dominance in the shot put, claiming his fifth overall title of the season and recording a season-best throw of 63-0 on his first attempt.

Vani cleared the bar at 16-9.25 to finish third in the pole vault for the Ragin' Cajuns  with Morgan Cormier finishing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles "B" (53.89) and Jacob Chicola placing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:45.85).

Bean helped pace the women's side by finishing second in the long jump (19-2.75) and third in the triple jump (38-10.50). Imagbe clocked a personal-best time of 12.08 in the 100-meter dash "B" section with Irwin finishing second in the 5,000-meters (18:16.63) and shaving off nearly seven seconds off her previous best set last week at the McNeese State Springtime Invitational.

In the 800-meters, Danielle Castaldi placed fourth overall with a personal-best time of 2:11.40, Claire Hodges was fourth in the 5,000-meters with a personal-best 18:16.63 and Tarvia Conway earned fourth-place honors in the triple jump (40-10.25).
