Track and Field: Pair Of Records Broken As Cajuns Compete At Texas StatePublished by
Live Results SAN MARCOS, Texas - Paced by school-records by Wes Gonzales and Brittany Blunt, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field turned three first-place finishes during the second day of the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Friday on the Texas State University campus. Gonzales, competing in the decathlon, scored a school-record 7,033 points and finished in a first-place tie with Atsu Nyamadi of Wiley College in the event. Competing in the women's hammer throw, Blunt recorded a throw of 170 feet, 5 inches, finishing sixth overall while setting a new school record. The Cajuns added three first-place finishes during the second day (and four overall) with Matt Rice claiming the men's 1,500-meter run (3:58.18) with Kaitlyn Moreau (heptathlon, 4,741 points) and Lindsey Harmon (high jump, 5-6) highlighting the women' side. On Thursday, men's pole vaulter Michael Vani claimed first-place honors after recording a mark of 17-0. Jacob Chicola (4:03.89) finished fourth overall in the men's 1,500-meter run while Keygan Keys (49.19) was seventh in the 400-meter dash and Landon Carroll (181-10) was sixth in the hammer throw. Teammate Alex Harrell placed fourth overall in the heptathlon (4,394 points) with Madalyn Trisler (5-6) finishing third in the women's high jump and Joya Tardieff was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.18).
